Literature of B (Italian) Language Area - level 2 3200-L2-LBW2
During one semester, students learn the basics of the history of Italian literature from theliterature of the end of XVIII cntury to the present day, as well as the main works of Italian literature representative of a given era.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the European context of Italian culture and literature over the centuries and the role played by Italian representatives of the world of culture in creating Europe's cultural heritage. During the course, students will read and analyze the short fragments of Italian prose and poetry, and critical texts from Italian anthology.

4. Realism (Verismo);
5. Modernism (Decadentismo);
6. Literary avant-garde;
7. Fascism period literature;
8. Second half of the 20th century.
Classroom activities - 30 hrs (1 ECTS)
Self-study – 30 hrs (1 ECTS), including:
- self-study –10 hrs
- preparation for tasks verifying the learning outcomes - 8 hrs
- preparation in-class presentation/homework –12 hrs

In one semester, students will explore the main literary phenomena of the Italian-speaking world, from the Enlightenment to the present, as well as the main works of Italian literature representative of each era. Skills
Student:
- can critically analyze literary and critical texts on Italian culture (K1_U01);
- can analyze literary texts and interpret them in a creative way, finding the right literary, historical and cultural context for them (K1_U03);
- can apply the basic research and interpretation methods applicable to literary and critical texts about Italian culture and can apply the acquired skills in team projects, also in interdisciplinary projects (K1_U10);
Social competence
Student:
- is ready to adequately identify cultural differences existing between Italian and Polish literature (K1_K01);
- is ready to critically assess their knowledge in the field of Italian literature, appreciates the importance of substantive argumentation in solving research and practical problems (in professional situations) (K1_K02);
- is ready to participate in the cultural life of Italy and Europe, using both traditional and modern forms and media (K1_K03);
- appreciates the tradition and cultural heritage of Italy and is aware of the responsibility for their preservation (K1_K04).
Assessment criteria
Classes divided into theoretical and practical parts (discussion of issues by the lecturer, student presentations (2 per semester) and a practical part consisting of discussing previously prepared readings, comments and discussions
Presence control. Two absences are allowed. Continuous assessment (ongoing preparation for classes, activity, presentations) – 10%
Oral exam - 90%.
The exam is passed if the student answers two questions at least enough

• 80%-84% – 4
• 70%-79% – 3+
• 60%-69% – 3
