Descriptive Grammar, Spanish - level 1 3200-L2-GOCH1
The course is devoted to an overview of the basic features of Spanish grammar. The topic of the seminar in the first semester is the description of parts of speech, syntactic groups, parts of the sentence and simple sentences. The classes in the second semester are devoted to the completion and systematizing of the knowledge regarding syntax functions and the elaboration of the structure of compound sentences. The seminar includes practical syntactic analysis exercises; therefore, an active participation of the students is expected.
Compulsory course for second-year students (Spanish as language C).
The student's amount of labor:
Classes with the participation of the tutor – 60 hours
Individual work:
- preparation for the classes - 30 hours
- preparation for the exams - 20 hours
If classroom learning is impossible, the workshop will be conducted with the help of distance communication tools, most probably Google Meet and others recommended by the University.

Learning outcomes
After completing the whole course, the student:
KNOWLEDGE:
- knows basic Spanish grammar terminology,
- knows the basic features of Spanish grammar,
SKILLS:
- is able to identify and describe various types of sentences,
- is able to use Spanish grammatical terminology,
- is able to use the above-mentioned knowledge for identifying and explaining selected problematic areas of Spanish grammar,
- is able to conduct a grammatical analysis of the Spanish clauses.
SOCIAL COMPETENCES:
- is prepared for independent expansion and updating of his own knowledge,
- understands and appreciates the importance of a coherent grammatical system approved by all Spanish-speaking countries.
Assessment criteria
The condition for passing the course is the active participation and a positive result of the exams. Attendance and active participation in class is compulsory. In case of more than two absences, the student may pass the semester after completing additional works.
The final grade is the mean of the grades from the final exam (50%) and the written pass after the first semester (50%).
Exam assessment criteria:
60%-69% = 3
70%-74% = 3+
75%-84% = 4
85%-89% = 4+
90%-95% = 5
96%-100%=5!
The retake exam takes place on the same principles and in the same form as the first exam.
