Language communication in social contexts 3200-L2-0PF9
Presentation of issues related to the relationship between language and social context, including the manifestation of cultural differences in ethnic languages within various linguistic subsystems, with particular emphasis on connectable and permanent phraseological units (idioms, hidden words, sayings and proverbs). This course introduces students to the main concepts and terms relating to linguistic communication in various social contexts. The course consists of thematic modules, based on the analysis, interpretation and presentation of linguistic data from research on various aspects of language relating to intercultural language communication, including issues in the field of linguistics, acquisition of a native language and a foreign language, discourse in communication, social and cultural communication contexts. The aim of the course is to develop communication skills in various social contexts. Students are encouraged to see the latest research results from the course topic.

Knowledge - graduate
K1_W02 knows the basic terminology of linguistics (general and applied) and literature,
K1_W06 knows and understands the links between applied linguistics and literature studies and other scientific fields and disciplines,

K1_W11 knows and understands cultural differences, which are an important factor in the formation of multicultural societies in the contemporary world, and in general knows the socio-economic and legal realities in the areas related to the languages studied.
Skills - graduate:
K1_U01 is able to critically analyze texts on variety scientific issues, to search, analyze, evaluate and select authentic texts in two studied foreign languages and develop professional skills in applied linguistics and literature studies,
K1_U05 is able to communicate in two foreign languages studied in typical professional situations requiring knowledge of techniques, strategies and different communication channels, and to counteract conflicts using language as a communication tool,
Social competences - graduate:
K1_K03 is ready to participate in the cultural life of the region, country and Europe, using both traditional and modern forms and media,
K1_K05 is ready to manage the group responsibly (in a collaborative research or practical project - e.g. educational, multicultural and multilingual), assuming responsibility for the results of its work.
