1600 years of Venice in the history and culture of Europe 3200-L1-MPF3
The course covers the history of Venice from the earliest times to the present day.
It is a course focused not only on the history, but also on the art, architecture and culture of the city, a real empire in the medieval era, unique on a world scale due to its geographical location, land and sea dimensions, and the unique cultural diversity that arose as a result of hundreds of years of artistic, diplomatic and trade relations with the countries of Europe, the Middle and Far East. The lecturer introduces the audience with characters such as travelers like Marco Polo; painters, such as, for example, Titian, Tintoretto; musicians like Antonio Vivaldi and many others. The culture of Venice is a common European heritage, therefore the history of the city and the Serene Republic will be discussed in the context of the history of European countries, incl. Polish.
In addition to the texts shown in the bibliography, the learning tools will include documentaries about the history of Venice and its heroes, maps, reproductions of the city's most famous works of art and architectural monuments.
