Computers and translation 3200-L1-1KPT
Practical classes aimed at familiarizing students with the possibilities of effective use of computers (computer programs and Internet resources) by translators during translation, and familiarizing students with the basic concepts of the computer-assisted translation process.
The classes enable students to familiarize themselves with existing bibliographic resources in the target language, acquire the skills to effectively search for scientific information in online resources, master advanced editing methods available in office suites, and master advanced skills in using online terminology
resources.

Knowledge: the graduate
S1.1_W04 knows the latest achievements and prospects for the development of translation studies and linguistics with the use of the latest IT tools and translation technologies,
S1.1_W10 has knowledge of information technologies and modern translation support technologies, knows how to use computers in the work of a linguist and a translator and interpreter,
S1.1_W14 understands the need for self-education and deepening their knowledge of translation and the latest translation technologies.
Skills: the graduate is able to
S1.1_U07 use modern information technologies to the greatest extent possible in research work, translation and text editing.
Social competences: the graduate is ready to
S1.1_K03 work in a team, including working remotely and using modern translation technologies.
Assessment criteria
Students receive grades for:
- completing 4 class projects
- completing a semester-long final project
- attending 80% of classes
