A monographic lecture devoted to an overview of traditional music cultures around the world from various perspectives. Selected topics in the field of musical anthropology and ethnomusicology will be discussed. The classes are illustrated with images and sound.

General topics:
1. Sound idiom and meaning of cultural identity.
2. Specific features of selected musical traditions – geographical ranges, functions.
3. Sound tool and musical instrument.
4. The role of music in rites de passage.
