Creativity in the oral tradition has a specific structure, exists in a social context and crystallises during performance. The course will present basic issues related to creativity in the oral tradition, as well as selected examples from the history of music and from the traditional music of different cultures:
1. The transmission of history - the role of song
2 Features of oral expression
3 Features of the musical form
4 The social role of professionals
5 The creator of the œuvre
The lecture is illustrated with musical examples, historical sources, and iconography

Learning outcomes
Students are introduced to the rules and methods of knowledge transmission in the oral tradition, and become familiar with the literature of history, music history and anthropology.
