Music of Catholic communities in Poland after the Second Vatican Council 3106-MUZKAT-F
The following issues will be discussed during the classes:
- basic terminology related to the study of religious music,
- legislation of the Catholic Church on music since the Second Vatican Council (liturgical music, concerts in churches),
- music in folk religious practices,
- religious music in the city space,
- religious singing,
- Christian popular music.
Classes will take the form of a discussion preceded by an introduction and inspired by literature, audiovisual materials and experiences of the participants.

Learning outcomes
The student knows and understands:
- musical practices within Catholic communities in Poland that emerged after the Second Vatican Council, and their socio-cultural context,
- cultural and legal conditions governing music performed in the church space.
The student is able to:
- actively participate in the academic discussion, presenting and adequately justifying the position,
- present facts and opinions in writing (popular science text).
The student is ready to:
- critical evaluation of the selection of the religious repertoire depending on the context,
- taking actions to raise musical awareness and the performance level in the field of contemporary church music.
Assessment criteria
- presence and active participation in discussions (possible 1 absence)
- essay or review up to 5000 characters with spaces
