Theory of Musical Culture 3106-1TQ
Music and musical activities are of interest to many scientific disciplines. Depending on the approach of a given discipline, although the subject of research - musical creation - remains the same, the approaches, themes, objectives and methods of the studies undertaken, as well as the directions of theoretical considerations, are different. The task of the participants in the course will be to prepare studies illustrating the culture-creating role of music and discussing selected theoretical approaches, as well as to engage in discussion. The general programme provides for the following areas: 1) Traditional musical culture, 2) Music in mass culture, 3) The relationship of music to the visual arts and to literature, 4) Music in the context of religious systems.
