In the following classes, key perspectives of the musicologist's work and related research methods will be presented. Participants
of the course are invited to choose their own source (print/manuscript/composer) and to systematically develop it according to the
issues presented in turn.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
- knows the basic terminology of musicology related to historical and source studies issues,
- can search, analyse, evaluate, select and use information from various sources of knowledge,
- has basic research skills, including formulation and analysis of research problems, selection of research methods and tools, development and presentation of results, allowing for solving research problems in musicology,
- has the ability to prepare typical written works in Polish on specific issues, using basic theoretical approaches and various sources,
- has the ability to conduct an independent bibliographic and source research query, knows the methods and ways of developing source material
Assessment criteria
The basis for passing the course is the preparation of a semester paper, using the presented research methods.
This work may take the form of an encyclopedic entry or an elaboration of a selected musical source (in both cases, a text of 3–7 standardized pages). The work is to be created systematically during the course and should be completed by the last class.
