Graduating from the first and second semester and knowledge of questions from them is obligatory.
A good knowledge of Polish grammar and of other languages can help.
I This Latin course prepares students to read and interpret Latin original texts (of medium difficulty) on their own with a Latin-Polish dictionary. This is the last semester of the Latin course for history students (three semesters – 180 hours)
II. During the classes grammar problems which weren’t discussed earlier (in the first and second semester of the course) are presented and all grammar is repeated. The important part of the classes is translating original texts chosen by a teacher according to the level of a group. A good knowledge of Latin grammar (inflection, syntax, vocabulary) allows students to take part in specialistic translatories which on the other hand let them develop their abilities and knowledge of Latin.
III. Topics anticipated to fullfil
The order of presentation of grammar questions and time for learning and exercising them depend on a teacher. The grammar topics always are followed by reading Latin sentences and texts.
1. Gerundivum. Coniugatio periphrastica passiva. Dativus auctoris.
2. Coniunctivus in the main clauses.
3. Dependent clauses (ut finale, ut obiectivum, interrogative clause, temporary, consecutive, subjective, causative, consenting relative, conditionals) – part II.
4. Verba deponentia. Verba semideponentia.
5. Verba anomala: volo, nolo, malo, eo, fero, fio.
6. Verba defectiva.
7. Assimilatio modi.
8. Oratio obliqua.
9. Archaic and variant forms
10. Reading chosen texts by the ancient authors

Learning outcomes
After course the student:
has an extensive vocabulary (learns by heart basic forms of words often met in the texts) and recites the meanings of words often used in texts.
uses different Latin-Polish dictionaries, finds without problems wanted information and analyses them to understand a more difficult text
recognizes forms of Latin words and ambiguity of some of them ant translates them according to it
analyses Latin syntax (grammar structures, cases’ functions) and translates them
declines nouns, pronouns, adjectives, numerals, conjugates verbs, compares adjectives and proverbs, recognizes their forms in the texts; translating a text notes forms of verbs, distinguishes dependent clauses due to context (especially beginning with ut and cum)
analyses subordinate clauses, joints clauses properly, which leads to prepare the right Polish translation

Written final test
written or oral tests - passing all of them is obligatory
systematically preparation to the classes and activity during them
student’s reading (one page, A4) on their own - a fragment of Latin text chosen by a teacher (oral exam during teacher’s office hours)
presence within classes is obligatory – six hours of absence are allowed, the bigger number of missed hours results in lack of promotion
Final exam
Consits of two parts which are marked together
The first part: Latin grammar test – set of exercises from all materials from sentences and texts read during the classes
The second part: translation of fragment of a new text with a short grammar commentary
During the test a student can use a Latin-Polish dictionary (Mały słownik łacińsko-polski, edited by J. Korpanty; Słownik łacińsko-polski, edited by K. Kumaniecki). Each part of the test takes 90 minutes. The parts can be joined and taken in the same day or during two days (it depends on a teacher and students). In the both cases two parts of the final tests are marked together.
65% is required to get C.

65 – 71 % – C
72 – 76 % – C+
77 – 84 % – B
85 – 90 % – B+
91 – 100 % – A
