Course provide practical application of knowledge presented in a lecture Introduction to physical anthropology. Students learn the proper protocols of exploration human remains in archaeological excavations, the and its documentation methods. The issues of preparing human remains for transport and storage will also be presented. A significant part of the course is laboratory introducing basics of human osteology, presented on a teaching collection of Department of Bioarchaeology. Students will also be familiarized with basic methods of assessing sex and age on the human skeleton.

Learning outcomes
Students will be familiarized with the multidisciplinary field of Bioarchaeology, its basic research methods and their cognitive abilities in the context of archaeological research. They will know proper methods of excavation human remains and their documentation . The students is able to understand information relating to the finds of human remains in the description of the archaeological site, can explain their significance for the interpretation of the site.
Students work in groups when discussing osteological issues. They are aware of ethical issues considering analysis of human remains.
Assessment criteria
Course is graded on the basis of written test.
Attendance is necessary to obtain the grade (two absences are acceptable)
