Revision of the lake settlement history:
1. Region of the Lake Constance, Attersee Lake and Zurich Lake since Neolithic until the 1st century A.D. (techniques, chronology, dendrodates).
2. Crannog type settlement in Scotland and Ireland (functions, chronology).
3. The state of research issue of the “palafits” and other lake dwellings in Pomerania region (types of the settlement, function, chronology, dendrodates, reconstructions).
4. Lake dwellings of the Varmia and Masuria (types, episodes of research, chronology, reconstructions).
5. The issue of the late medieval stake dwellings (type Kemlady) in the Mecklenburg region and so-called hunting mansions in Prussia.
6. The problem of the site and wet wood preservation.
7. Methods of research and documentation.

(in Polish) Zajęcia zaplanowane jako obowiązkowe dla uczestników seminarium z archeologii podwodnej. Dotyczyć będą formy osadniczej uchwytnej w materiale archeologicznym, z którą studenci mogą spotkać się podczas podwodnych praktyk wykopaliskowych

Learning outcomes

Participants would be accustomed with the specific form of settlement, one of the most popular underwater sites category as well as main related artefacts

Assessment criteria

Written exam would evaluate students knowledge of the lectures’ content. Attendance is also taken into account.
