ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES OF MINOAN CRETE AND SANTORINI 3101-DKZAB
The main aim of the course is to prepare all the participants to the active contribution to the educational tour to Central and Eastern Crete. The tour itself (one week trip at the beginning of June 2008) is an offer for all students, however those who have chosen an Archaeology of Greece as a main subject have a priority. Here is a believed itinerary: Knossos (palace, Royal Villa, Caravanserai, House of the High Priest, Temple Tomb), Heraklion National Museum, Amnissos, Nirou Chani, Malia and Chrysolakkos, Gournia, Mochlos, Aghios Nikolaos Archeological Museum, Vasiliki, Ierapetra Archaeological Collection, Myrtos Pyrgos i Myrtos Phournou Koryphi, Chamaizi, Siteia-Petras, Siteia Archaeological Museum, Palaikastro, Kato Zakro, Lato, Dreros, Psychro. The students are supposed to discuss all archaeological sites in detail and they should be prepared for a serious guiding on Crete. We are also going to discuss the most important artifacts connected with sites (frescoes, pottery, jewellery, larnakes, glyptic art and figurines). The modern history of Crete would be discussed at one class as well. The credit conditions are: presence (three absences are possible) and a delivery of a paper. The paper will be evaluated.
