Archaeology of boats- and shipwrecks from Middle Ages to modern period 3101-DKSSN
The course aims to present the changes in the way of building and use the ancient watercraft
Boats and ships are considered the largest and most complex structures made by man during pre-industrial age and therefore deserve special interest on the part of archaeologists. By its characteristics such as cargo capacity, destination, date and place of building, reflect the nature of ancient navigation. Studies of ancient boats and ships are not only the study of changes in the technology of their implementation, it requires not only technical skills but, more importantly, also a certain level of conceptualization which often exceeds the level necessary to comply with other objects, or objects of everyday use.
