During the Early Dynastic Period, well before Sargon of Akkad, Northern Babylonia and Northern Syria were settled by Semitic peoples. Written sources and archaeological remains will be examined in attempt to restore early history of those people and in search of possible ethnic and regional differences between them and Sumerian population of Southern Mesopotamia
