Specialized Literary Introductory Seminar 2 3020-BB2PS-L

At the time of the course the students will be acquaint themselves with selected topic of Lithuanian literature works (in selected cases also Polish concerning this country) against a wider background of socio-historical and cultural transformations which go on in this country in 20th century (the history of press development, theatre and plastic arts). The program of the classes is the proposition of common analyse and interpretation of selected works of 20th century Lithuanian literature sumsumed in several topic blocks: the view of Lithuania in satire distorting mirror, literary proofs of dread (second World War, and post-war period), the images of day-to-day reality in Lithuanian literaturę (from 1930s until 1990s), rejudgement of literary authorities and victims in the face of independence. Participants will be acquaint themselves with critical analysis and recent works upon the topic of the seminar.
Aims of the course:
1) to show the role of literature in context of socio-historical history of 20th century Lithuania conditions,
2) to show a synthetic character of taken topic in Lithuanian literature in connection with genre, style, type of narration, literary movement or historical factors.
Form of clases - Google Meet. Classes will involve working in groups, developing skills in reading and understanding scholarly texts through discussion, presenting and arguing one’s views on some topic of literature, preparing class papers with the aid of multimedia techniques.
