Prerequisites (description)
The course is a review of selected theoretical issues in linguistics. It aims at broadening the scope of theoretical linguistic knowledge of the course participants. Depending on the actual course cycle, it will focus either on pragmatics or on cognitive linguistics

Learning outcomes
Upon the completion of the course student:
-knows main issues in either linguistic pragmatics or cognitive linguistics, as well as their respective terminologies and sample methods of analysis
- analyses simple examples in accordance with the linguistic theory in question
- appropriately warrants and documents the results of their analysis
Assessment criteria
Final short essay of 1-2 pages discussing a selected linguistic example .
