The aim of the course is to:
- teach ability to consciously use the voice, expressive and loud speaking, proper intonation and pace of speaking,
- present basic rules of autopresentation,
- present basic rules of text interpretation.
Course topics:
1. Consciousness of proper pronounciation in process of language communication.
2. Anatomical basics of communicative process:
- anatomy of breathing-phonation-articulation system,
- laryngeal physiology (activity of larynx, phonation mechanism),
- breathing physiology (types of breathing, breathing while speaking and singing),
- voice hygiene (prophylaxis).
4. Learning rules of proper Polish pronunciation:
- basic rules of Polish phonetics,
- differences between speech and writing,
- pronunciation of oral and nasal vowels,
- rules of pronunciation of consonants (assimilation, simplification, reduction),
- word and phrasal stress,
- reasons for improper pronunciation.
4. Breathing techniques:
- physiological breathing,
- learning abdominal-diaphragmatic-costal breathing.
- lengthening exhalation phase - economic use of air,
- elements of yoga in breathing exercises,
- relaxation exercices - massage and loosening exercises.
5. Voice emission - resonators:
- stimulating head and breast resonators,
- differentiating soft and hard sound attacking,
- sound capacity,
- voice diameter and scale,
- voice levels,
- activity of breathing-phonation system while producing a sound,
- breathing support as basis of emission,
- motor and emission exercises.
6. Exercises enhancing motor activity of speech organs:
- jaw exercises,
- lip exercises,
- tongue exercices,
- soft palate exercises,
- exercises enhacing general motor activity of body along with exercises enhancing motor activity of speech organs.
7. Diction - vowels:
- exercises in expressive articulation of oral and nasal vowels in the (double vowels, vowel hiatus, stressed and non-stressed vowels),
- expressing emotions using vowels,
- vowels as basis of diction and sound capacity.
8. Diction - consonants:
- exercises in articulation of stop consonants,
- exercises in expressive articulation of fricative and affricate sounds,
- expressive articulation of voiced sounds,
- pronunciation of alveolar sounds,
- exercises in expressive articulation of sounds in consonant coincidences and clusters, word endings, influence of phonetic neighbourhood on sound.
9. Loud reading:
- basic rules of text interpretation (phrasing, pause, intonation, stress, pace, voice modulation, ability to synchronize breathing pauses with content of statements),
- verbal expression and expression of body,
- exercises in reading literary, journalistic, information and artistic texts.
10. Autopresentation:
- basic rules of autopresentation,
- overcoming stage fright,
- body language (mime, gestures),
- technical measures during public speeches (microphone speech, stage speech, behaviour in front of a camera),
- performing own texts.
