Latin Class 3006-PNJŁ2-Z
The classes are aimed at developing and reinforcing of the knowledge and abilities got during the first year of studies which prepares students for reading and analysing full original texts of the high level of difficulty (Cicero, Salustius, Livius, Tacitus, poets etc.). The students learn the rules of metrics, the basis of the text’s criticism and the Latin stylistics and study the skills of a classical philologist (dictionaries, Thesaurus Linquae Latinae)

Learning outcomes
The student
In the range of knowledge
- knows the history of the origin and developing of Latin language;
- knows the grammar and vocabulary of Latin on the basic level;
In the range of abilities;
- reads and translates the Latin texts of the low and medium difficulty
- recognizes basic metric measures in the Latin poetry;
In the range of social competences
- recognizes the level of their knowledge and abilities, understands the need of constant studying and self-development.
Assessment criteria
- constant appraisal (current preparing to the classes and activity during them) – 40%
- the written tests during semesters – 25%
- the final written test – 35%
The final test can be taken after passing all tests of semesters.
The student is entitled to retake each written test twice. Not taking a test without an excuse causes the loss of the date. The presence control: three missed classes a semester are allowed without an excuse.
