(in Polish) Pragmatyka tekstu 3003-B6DS-SPT
The topics of the course are related to the research interests of participants of the seminar, and are following:
1. Current trends in contemporary linguistics (structuralism, pragmatics, cognitive linguistics).
2. Methodology of intersemiotic text research.
3. Discourse, text and utterance. Types of discourse. The analysy of school discourse, family discourse, political discourse, religion discourse.
4. The main concepts of meaning. Semantic relations as a tool for linguistic research.
5. Semantics and pragmatics. Pragmatics in lexical and grammatical analyses.
6. Theory of reference. Deixis - "ego hic et nunc" in specific situations. Types of reference (concrete, existential, predicative, etc.). Application of the referential apparatus in linguistic analyses.
7. Presuppositions and implicatures.
8. The meaning in grammar. A. Goldberg construction grammar and grammaticalization.
9. Speech acts theory.
10. Methodology of research. Doctoral thesis canon (choice of topic, formulating the theme, compiling bibliography, division into chapters, subchapters etc.)

A student who has completed the course:
- employs basic notions pertaining to pragmatics and cognitive linguistics;
- analyzes the functions of verbal elements of an utterance;
- employs the tools accessible in humanities in his/her research, and preparing a doctoral dissertation.
Assessment criteria
Evaluation on the basis of attendance, active participation in the course (taking part in discussions, giving presentations), as well as presenting the student’s own research on the topic of his/her choice
