Word culture 3003-11A1KS
During the lecture, students:
• get to know basic terms of normative linguistics and the most important former and contemporary publications codifying the language standard;
• familiarize with the organizations institutionally dealing with language policy;
• recognize either opportunities for the Polish language, or dangers in a globalizing world;
• get acquainted with the typology and the mechanisms of language errors;
• familiarize with basic terms of lexicology.
The class will be mainly devoted to developing the culture of language in the subjective sense - it’s about shaping the students’ ability to correctly (i.e. in accordance with the language standard) use the language in its lexical, phraseological and stylistic aspect. Under the teacher’s guidance, students will analyze fragments of contemporary texts and will carry out their lexical, phraseological and stylistic correction.
