Proseminar 3000-PISB1-PRO
The seminar serves to familiarize students with the basics of research at the master's level, in particular in the field of cultural studies on gender and sexuality. It will consist of 1) workshopping skills and 2) methodological work. In the workshop part of the course, we will learn about the form of master's theses, substantive and formal requirements, how to find a thesis topic, how to effectively and well plan research, writing and editing, as well as giving and receiving feedback. In the methodological part, we will consider how to conduct research, what it may cover, where to look for inspiration and refer to existing research. An essential part of the course is to acquire the ability to find literature on the subject and to approach it critically. The classes will also provide insight into various cultural studies approaches to gender and sexuality: text, visual culture, and an eclectic approach combining cultural studies with other disciplines. This review will be carried out through meetings with invited guests and guests whose works or texts proposed by them we will read. The final group project will be a mini laboratory for implementing some elements of workshop work and methodological work.

presentations
The basic condition for passing the classes is participation in classes. Absences must be excused by the instructor. A student is entitled to two excused or unexcused absences per semester. A person with three to five absences per semester must make up for them in the manner specified by the instructor. Absences (even justified!) from more than five classes (30%) in a semester result in not being allowed to pass the classes. Only people with the Individual Organization granted Studies based on the opinion of the BON may have an increased absence limit, but not more than 50% in a semester.
Estimated workload of the person participating in classes: participation in classes 30h (1 ECTS), other requirements (reading, projects, presentation) 60h (2 ECTS). Total of 90h (3 ECTS).
The method of using artificial intelligence tools in written works and final presentations is specified in the provisions of § 3 and 4 of Resolution No. 98 of the University Education Council of December 8, 2023. It is prohibited to use artificial intelligence systems to generate materials for a final project and to develop it (also from the linguistic point of view).
