Knowledge:
The student knows the various kinds of primary sources that can be used in historical research.
The student is able to define the key concepts of source criticism, such as ‘bias,’ ‘framing,’ ‘positionality,’ etc.
Skills:
The student grasps the significance of primary sources for historical research.
The student is able to offer a critique of a primary source, understanding its historical value as well as limitations.
The student knows how to confront different kinds of sources and weigh their value against each other.
The student knows how to balance primary and secondary sources, and how to use both of them effectively.
