Education in the institutions of the GLAM sector 2700-P2EG-SPNMIDK
Educational activities in institutions such as museums, and galleries, have become a standard. However, is this standard valid everywhere? During the course, we will define the institutions of the GLAM sector, tell about their mission, common areas and what differentiates them. We will also consider what a museum is and what defines it. How is it different (or not) from other GLAM sector institutions. We will consider whether each of these institutions should also carry out educational activities in its mission, and if so - how it should look like. We will look at examples of such activities in GLAM institutions in Poland, Europe and the world. We will get to know those that are conducted using the well-known, classic methods and those that use new media. We will consider what the new media bring and whether their use is always useful.
The following issues will be discussed:
1. Advantages and pitfalls of new media in education and culture - assessment of the usefulness of using new media in a specific educational offer of GLAM sector institutions.
2. Forms of education in individual institutions of the GLAM sector - a critical assessment of the forms and methods of education implementation in institutions of the GLAM sector; building a framework educational program in a given GLAM sector institution.
2. Exhibition as an educational medium.
3. Participation as education.
4. Financing of educational activities in GLAM institutions.
5. Competency profile of an educator in this sector - the necessary substantive and personal competences to conduct educational activities in GLAM institutions.
