Law and ethics in the activities of institutions of cultural heritage 2700-P1PIE-SPNMIDK
The following documents and their importance for the functioning of cultural institutions will be discussed:
• Act on organizing and conducting cultural activities.
• The law on the protection of monuments.
• Legal provisions related to trade in museum pieces, lending of museum pieces, restitution and re-privatization.
• Provisions related to employee duties of employees of cultural institutions.
• Other regulations used in the activities of GLAM institutions related to the Act on finance, public procurement or the protection of personal data and classified information.
• Principles of codes of ethics with reference to Polish legislation.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students:
KNOWLEDGE:
Know and understand legal provisions in the field of legal regulations in the area of GLAM sector institutions and the protection of cultural goods.
SKILLS:
Can independently acquire knowledge and develop research skills, can use theoretical skills, research patterns and concepts specific to GLAM institutions and new media.
OTHER COMPETENCES:
Have a sense of responsibility for the protection and preservation of cultural heritage, actively participates in cultural life, using the available opportunities.
Observe the rules of ethics in working in cultural heritage institutions, act to maintain it, properly interpret and solve problems related to the performance of the profession.
Assessment criteria
Continuous assessment based on substantive preparation for classes and activity during classes. Final written or oral exam.
The condition for passing the classes is obtaining a sufficient number of attendance and activity, and obtaining a positive result in the final exam.
It is not possible to correct positive ratings.
