Groups at risk of social exclusion in institutions of cultural heritage 2700-P1GZWS-SPNMIDK
During the Course we will disscuss methods and ways of accessing the areas, events, exhibits and educational offert in cultural heritage institutions. The attention will be also given to typology of groups threatened of social and cultural exclusion – people with disabilities, people with autism, eldier people etc. Students will acquire knowledge of legal and ethical aspects of accessing of cultural heritage institutions and will get to know the best examples of the desired activqities. Students will make an attempt to create by themselves a wanted accessible sollution as well.
1. Typology of social exclusion – people with disability people with autism, eldier people, , charges of social assistance centres, charges of penal institutions.
2. Expectations and cognitive abilities of people who are threatened of social and cultural exclusion.
3. The legal regulations of accessibility in cultural institutions.
4. Accessibility of ICT.
5. Making exhibits and educational offert accessible by cultural heritage institutions, examples of desired sollutions.
6. Accessible information and communication in cultural heritage institutions, examples of desired sollutions.
7. Creating a project counteracting of cultural and social exclusion.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student has knowledge of people belonging to groups at risk of exclusion as recipients of culture and potential guests of cultural heritage institutions. He knows the principles of creating and maintaining accessible information and communication as well as the most important legal provisions regulating the issues of making cultural heritage institutions available. Is able to develop and implement projects related to the fulfillment of the needs of access to the culture of people classified as excluded and at risk of exclusion.
Regarding the specific competences:
KNOWLEDGE
- Has knowledge of the relationship between museology, book studies, and archives with the scientific disciplines of the area of operation of GLAM institutions and new media.
- Has knowledge of the main directions of development and new achievements in the functioning of cultural heritage institutions.
- Knows and understands the methods of analysis and interpretation of various cultural products for selected theories and research schools in the area of GLAM institutions.
SKILLS
- Has research skills including the formulation and analysis of research problems, the selection of research methods and tools, the development and presentation of research results in the GLAM sector.
- Can independently acquire knowledge and develop research skills, can use theoretical skills, research patterns and concepts specific to GLAM institutions and new media.
- Has the ability to present research results, formulate conclusions and prepare oral presentations on specific issues related to the functioning of GLAM sector institutions.
OTHER COMPETENCES
- Can define priorities for the implementation of tasks defined by himself or others, goals of the cultural heritage institutions and their mission.
- Complies with the rules of ethics in working in cultural heritage institutions, acts to maintain it, interprets properly and solves problems related to the performance of the profession.
Assessment criteria
Continuous assessment based on substantive preparation for classes and activity during classes.
The condition for completing the course is obtaining a sufficient number of attendance, activity and completing the project. Delivery of the project within the prescribed period.
It is not possible to correct positive ratings.
