Block: New Media - Technosceptic Approach
The following issues will be discussed during the course:
- the functioning of copyright in the digital age; network culture,
- psychological aspects of using the Internet,
- the impact of algorithms on the use of the network: stigmergy, information bubbles and the phenomenon of "reverberation cabin",
- online privacy threats at the system and private levels;
online violence: cyberbullying and patostreaming;
- harmful communication: hate and fake news on the web;
- global digital divide and digital generation divide,
- FOMO and unplugging.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
Knowledge
- Knows and understands digital as a task and challenge for the contemporary publishing market.
- Knows and understands the rules and ethical standards appropriate for entities operating on the contemporary publishing market.
Skills
- Can recognize and then carry out a critical analysis and interpretation of various traditional and digital writing products in order to determine their meaning, social, cultural and civilization impact.
- Can observe and interpret phenomena related to the social functioning of traditional and digital literature and the processes taking place on the modern publishing market, determine their origins and predict their effects.
- Can apply ethical principles, including professional ethics, copyright and intellectual property protection.
Other competences
- Is ready to critically assess the level of their knowledge and skills and develop, improve and use various sources of information in solving research and / or professional problems; creative search for solutions to cognitive and practical problems, including the use of the opinions of experts, including in sources specific to the publishing and book market.
Assessment criteria
Block: New Media - Technosceptic Approach
The condition for completing the course is:
- attendance - one unexcused absence and one excused absence allowed, worked out during the consultation
- activity during classes, in particular participation in discussions and group work,
- final group presentation.
Assessment methods:
- continuous assessment of work in the classroom,
- evaluation of the group presentation.
