Prerequisites (description)

The main item of lessons will be the widest definition of notion what it means "knowledge" and "science". The presentation of the whole process of scientist's researching will be served to understand the role of genuineness and earnestness in construction of new thesis. The different ways of scientific cognizance will be accompanied by presentation of the most important methods, techniques and methodological tools which bellows to information and book studies and the others humanities like history, sociology, pedagogy, psychology, etc. How can we used and adopt them in our discipline. Podpowiedź Jasny i zwięzły opis treści zajęć przedmiotu pozwalający określić ich zakres tematyczny. Jeżeli przedmiot składa się z kilku komponentów (np. wykład i ćwiczenia), to należy opisać wykład i ćwiczenia oddzielnie (np. dwa paragrafy 'Wykład ma za zadanie...', 'Ćwiczenia poświęcone są...'). Korzystne byłoby określenie szacunkowej, całkowitej liczby godzin, które student musi przeznaczyć na osiągnięcie zdefiniowanych dla przedmiotu efektów kształcenia (biorąc pod uwagę godziny zorganizowane, sposób zaliczenia, pracę samodzielną studenta).

After completing the course, the student:

K_W01 Knows and understands the specific subject and methodological specificity of book and information science as a sub-discipline of social communication and media sciences, its
the latest achievements and main development trends.
K_W03 Knows and understands the methodology of research in the field of book and information science as a sub-discipline of social communication and media sciences.
K_W05 Knows and understands advanced methods of analysis and interpretation of cultural products, selected traditions, theories and research schools in the field of book and information science,
social communication and media as well as related disciplines appropriate for the field of study.

K_U02 Can formulate and solve research problems, select methods and tools for solving them (including advanced information and communication techniques),
synthesize various ideas and points of view with the use of knowledge in the field of book and information science and related disciplines relevant to the field of study.
K_U05 Can communicate on topics related to book and information science with various groups of recipients, including conducting a debate in a foreign language at the B2 + level.

K_K01 Is ready to recognize the importance of knowledge in solving research and practical problems and to carry out a critical assessment of own knowledge.
K_K02 Is ready to recognize the importance of knowledge in solving research and practical problems, use the knowledge and experience of others, and carry out a critical assessment of knowledge presented in various types of information sources, in the field of book and information science.

Assessment criteria

To pass this cource student has to:
• attend at classes
• participate actively in classes (participation in discussions during classes),
• receiving a positive grade for mid-term and the final test (oral or written).

Due to the nature of the classes, students will be assessed on a regular basis.

During the assessment, the following elements will be taken into account:
• degree of preparation for classes (including: knowledge of reading content),
• substantial participation in discussion,
• grade from the mid-term and final exam.
