From Documentation to Creation - Part 2 2700-M-DM-D3ODDK-DOK
Opis w j. Angielskim
The material from which the journalistic comic is made is the journalistic material, as well as photographic and film documentation collected during the "topic-making". Apart from the notes, the interview is also of key importance. The person who conducts it must demonstrate a talent as a journalist, thanks to which not only the facts will be established, but also the personality of the hero will be revealed. The second very important issue is the already mentioned documentation. What matters here is the ability to take good and interesting photos, because it is from them that the comic frames will be created. Another completely different way is to create a comic from existing materials and photos, which in a way resembles a historical report.
The first task of the students is to write conventional reportage material on a given topic: "It happened on my street". In a text not longer than two A4 pages, the author will have to describe the street, its appearance and character. In addition, a scene from the street and the accompanying dialogue.
The next step will be a personal interview, i.e. one that reveals not only the hero's situation, but also his emotions and feelings related to it. It is supposed to be an interview with 15 questions.
The next stage is the transformation of the text and photographic material into verbal and graphic sequences. Comic book. Students will use computer programs to transform photography into graphics, edit the image and paste speech bubbles into it. The comic is to consist of at least five frames. Because it is a minimal format that allows to show the hero, his problem, personality and the social background of the story.
After mastering the technical basics, students will begin creating comics. The group will be divided into two or three-person teams carrying out one job. This will make the documentation and creation process easier and more attractive for students. The teams will create partial works on the assigned topics: homelessness, sport, theft, love and religion.
The form of the works is free, but kept within the limits of realism. A comic book can be creative, but it needs to accurately and communicatively tell a true story. The accuracy of associations and the composition of the story, charts and frames will be scored. How the text corresponds with the image. The idea is to combine traditional comic book narration with video scenes and music. The use of various narrative methods, breaking linearity or telling a story from the end.
The work will be published on the Facebook profile created for the purposes of the classes. It will be a communication channel between the teacher and students, because we will give up sending the work by e-mail to the teacher, and they will be published by the authors immediately on the profile.
The culmination and summary of the above activities is to be the creation of the final work - Project. The collective theme of the group will be the phrase "Warsaw at night". The task of the teams will be to work out an idea, create a script and document the subject in photos.
Finally - presentation of the finished final work.
