In the course of the class’ duration the following topics will be discussed/presented:
Content analysis, target groups, structure of the several types of book business professional information sources:
Printed:
- Printed magazines Polish („Biblioteka analiz”, „Książki magazyn literacki”) and foreign („Publishers Weekly”, „The Bookseller”),
- „Rynek książki w Polsce”, „Ruch wydawniczy w liczbach”, „Rocznik statystyczny GUS”
Electronic (on line, digital): Polish (ksiazki.pl, wirtualny wydawca etc. )and foreign.
- Social media as a sources of book business’ information
- Reading surveys and social research results as a sources of book business’ information
Planned discussion to be held:
- Bestsellers lists as a sources of book business’ information
- printed professional magazines – any future?
Invited guests:
- Editor in Chief of selected professional magazine
- representative of selected book marketing company

Student knows and understands:
Printed and digital info sources on book business and the way they work, might be used, implemented in publishing activity, intellectual property protection within the book business. (K_W02, K_W05, K_W06, K_W07)
Student is able to:
Collect and process different type of information necessary for the effective operating in the book business’ institution, define to whom the information is directed and skillfully use their content, develop one’s own info materials and place them in adequate media, tie and maintain personal contacts within different sectors of the book business (K_U03, K_U04, K_U06, K_U07)
Student is ready to:
Independently collect knowledge in the scope of the book business’ issues, relying on different types of sector’s media and their usefulness analysis. Identify and decide on the dilemmas connected with professional activity on the book market. (K_K01, K_K03)
