Press Law with Elements of Intellectual Ownership 2700-L-LM-Z2PRPR
Students become familiar with the legal regulations concerning the communication and they analyze in detail whether the materials are normative considering journalists as well as public relations staff (including - spokespersons), and all interested in receiving public information. Basic lecture discussed the acts are: the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, Constitution, Law Press Law, the Law on Access to Public Information Act, the Broadcasting Act, the Privacy Act, the protection of classified information, the Act unfair competition and selected aspects of the Civil Code, Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure Code.
Students themselves collect, analyze and evaluate press materials from the standpoint of their legality, write critical texts and answer the criticisms, carry out authentication of texts, write a correction. They must also write an application for registration of a log or journal and the report of the trial court, in which they participate.

The duties of the student: categorize press materials (based on a given key) and interpretation in terms of their legality (presentation of positions in the forum)

After completing the course (lecture and practical classes) the student has:
knowledge:
1. knows the normative framework of communication in the profession of journalist and public relations practitioner
2. has the knowledge how to analyze the independent press material (text and audiovisual material) regarding the legality
3. knows the standards of honesty in advertising
4. knows the basic principles of criminal investigations and court activities
5. knows the basic institutions of criminal and civil law allowing the writing of court reports and discourse relating to issues of crime
skills:
1. student knows how to independently analyze the behavior in concrete situations of communication in terms of its compliance with the law
2. can independently make a request to register the log and journal
3. knows how to authenticate the speeches and interviews text
4. is able to write a correction and an answer
5. knows how to write critical texts clearly within legal and respond to press criticism
6. is able to assess the legality of advertising from the perspective of standards of legality
7. is able to write in the correct from standpoint (concerning content and language and narrate) in a judicial reports, topics related to crime
Other competencies:
1. student knows the legal terms and legal language and is able to adapt to the needs of the media job market
2. student has a sensitivity (feeling) on the legal aspects of both their actions and the actions of others (so he knows how to diagnose behavior, texts and speeches from the standpoint of law and proper implementation of its standards)
3. graduate can read and understand the normative content and the use media in accordance with doctrinal and judicial interpretation.
Assessment criteria
Student knowledge is subject to verification during classes and final exam. The prerequisite to pass classes is to participate in them and to execute tasks ordered by the tutor (writing commissioned texts: correction, criticism, answers, visit to the court and the court report writing, conducting a press folder, which is collected is collected by the student press materials, which are being analyzed from the standpoint of legality). Final exam takes the form of an oral exam (3 questions) or written (3-5 descriptive topics, open)
