The subject of the lecture is the condition and conditions of Network services in Poland and in the world. The lecture presents the essence of internet services - current status
and development perspectives. The lecture covers the issues of computer data centers together with the TIER classification, types of Cloud Computing services with particular emphasis on services: SaaS, PaaS, IaaS.
The subject of the lecture is also the issue of Guaranteed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in the field of commercial Network services. Virtualization of IT resources by type of virtualization (emulation, native virtualization, paravirtualization, full virtualization), pros and cons of virtualization resources, software and hardware solutions.
Types of networks: LAN, MAN, WAN with basic parameters discussed. The lecture also covers the foundations of Internet functioning, computer addressing, DNS, network protocols.
As part of the lecture, widely available hosting services are discussed in detail, including domain names, e-mail, web hosting, SSL certificates, VPN, VPS and advanced network services of larger service providers, such as Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Google etc. The subject of the lecture also includes aspects of costs, security, legal aspects related to hosting services, the topic of technologies used in the network.

Knowledge:
- the graduate has specialist knowledge in the field of network resources and their types (especially those used in the media)
- knows the mechanisms of operation of the Internet and company networks
- knows the commercial possibilities of computer networks used especially in the media industry
- knows the current potential of network service providers
Skills:
- the graduate knows specialized terminology and is able to communicate with media employees dealing with the network and its services
- the graduate has the ability to indicate the advantages and disadvantages of resources and offered network services
- can indicate important features determining the quality of network services for the media industry, as well as skills in assessing technological reliability
Other competencies:
- the graduate has competences enabling him to cooperate with companies providing network services to the media
- knows how to assess the quality of network services and resources
- has competences enabling independent creation of basic network services
Assessment criteria
Test on the e-learning platform (Kampus platform).
Grading scale. Points / Ratings : 00-12 (2); 12,5-15 (3); 15,5-16,5 (3+); 17-18,5 (4); 19-19,5 (4+); 20-20,5 (5); 21 (6). Inability to improve the positive grade.
