The Directions in the Development of Modern Librarianship 2700-L-IN-Z6KRWB
The classes have a seminar character, and what is discussed in the course are some chosen problems of contemporary librarianship which most emphatically show changes in the manner of using libraries and reaching their sources. Every time, papers on the planned subject, prepared by chosen students, are a basis to discussion for next classes. Among others, the following topics are being discussed: the ongoing virtualization of library services and a continued transfer of their operations to the online mode, the directions of the development of computer systems supporting libraries, the enrichment of these systems by functions referred to using the term OPAC 2.0, the increase in the utilization of mobile devices in reaching library services, the more and more frequent assigning to libraries (especially public ones) the functions carried out by community centres, the designing of libraries and the library space in response to changes in functions performed by libraries, and the changes in methods of getting hold of scientific and recreative contents.
