Bibliographic information management 2700-L-IN-Z2ZIB
The course aims to provide students with practical skills in preparing methodologically correct bibliographies that meet the information needs of users and meet formal requirements, also using specialized software.
During the course, students learn about reference management software. They use this software to automatically retrieve metadata from online databases, store bibliographic information in the cloud in an organized manner, sort and search data according to selected criteria. During hands-on activities, students learn about the capabilities of selected tools and how they can be integrated with popular word processors to automatically create footnotes and bibliographies.

After completing the course, students:
KNOWLEDGE:
- know and understand, to an advanced degree, facts, objects, and phenomena, their subject-specificity, and the theories describing them that are specific to library and information sciences and media and social communication studies (K_W01).
- know and understand the processes of creation, management, and quality assessment of document collections, and procedures and tools to access them (K_W07).
SKILLS:
- are capable of searching, analyzing, and evaluating information sources, and selecting and using information from them for their own needs and those of other users (K_U05).
- are capable of identifying and using the appropriate methods and tools for information organization and representation (K_U06).
- are capable of producing different types of written works related to the research problems of media and communication studies in their subdiscipline of library and information sciences (K_U12).
COMPETENCES:
- are ready to critically assess their knowledge that is necessary to perform research and professional activities in the field of media and communication studies, especially library and information science (K_K01).
- are ready to recognize the importance of knowledge in solving the theoretical and practical problems in the library and information science, and to exploit the knowledge of others in this area (K_K02).
Assessment criteria
1. Attendance:
a) full - 25%;
b) one absence - 20%;
c) two absences - 15%;
d) three absences and more - 0%.
2) Creation of bibliography - up to 75%.
Final grades:
5: 91-100%
4,5: 81-90%
4: 71-80%
3,5: 61-70%
3: 50-60%
Final positive grades cannot be improved.
