Linguistic Savoir-vivre 2700-L-DM-Z5JSVI-PRM
Within the course will be discussed: strategies of Polish savoir-vivre, comparison between the Polish informal savoir-vivre and the codified system of international business standards. Polish verbal and non-verbal politeness will be confronted with the politeness of other cultures. During the course will be discussed: greetings, apologies, introductions, congratulations, condolences. Practical analysis of official letters, emails and business cards will be carried out.

After completing the course the student:
KNOWLEDGE
1. knows the polite behavior of the function of language and accompanying or nonverbal behaviors to replace them.
2. knows the language relationships (for you, for Mr. / Ms and relationships so. Indirect) communication between partners
3. knows the rules of traditional writing letters, official letters, e-mails.
4. knows the concept of so-called. bracket courtesy (forms and formulas as well as forms of welcome and farewell formula).
5. knows certain functions of politeness: an apology, wishes, congratulations, condolences.
6. knows the international business etiquette and the differences between a social courtesy and professional courtesy.
7. knows the language differences in polite speech of men and women (gender) and the impact of this phenomenon to achieve professional success.
SKILLS
1. Can use polite forms of language to affect his/her own communication effectiveness in different types of speaking (writing).
2. can use hierarchy titles tailored to the caller and the situation of speaking.
3. 3 can write and address the official letter, e-mail, using appropriate language forms, including a courtesy.
4. can start the verbal interaction (including the present, respectively), continue it, using the special function of language, as well as knows how to end it. The direct and indirect contact, including a phone call.
5. can verbalize certain functions of politeness (greetings, farewells, apologies, etc.), adjusting their form to the relationship with your partner.
OTHER COMPETENCES
1. Student is aware of the changes in polite manners since 1989., understands the differences between generations of polite behavior and the need to seek consensus.
