The subject of the lecture is an introduction to economic thought, in the form of an outline of the development of economic thought from antiquity to the present day. The most important topics that will be discussed during the lectures are:
1. An outline of the history of economic thought
2. Definitions of economics and methodological foundations
3. Market, law of supply and demand
4. Theory of consumer behavior
5. Entrepreneurship and entrepreneur
6. Market structures - monopoly, oligopoly, monopolistic competition, perfect competition
7. Basic macroeconomic goals
8. GDP - concept, measurement, structure, GDP as a measure
9. Budget, fiscal policy and basics of tax economics
10. Macroeconomic balance. Investment multiplier
11. Inflation, understanding and anti-inflation policy in monetary terms
12. Basics of monetary theory. Bank System.
13. Theories of economic prosperity.
14. Labor market

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students:
KNOWLEDGE:
• The student has knowledge of the basics of economic theories, both in macroeconomic terms and from the perspective of enterprises, markets and consumers;
• Understands the most important economic categories
SKILLS:
• The student is able to understand messages and information regarding economic phenomena
• Is able to apply appropriate economic categories in the work of e.g. a journalist or a communication specialist;
• Is able to use adequate economic terminology to describe many phenomena
Assessment criteria
Lecture, delivery method, assessment based on stationary and computer examination, 10 questions, including one open (4 questions in microeconomics, 6 questions in macroeconomics), random selection of questions
