Classes in the form of a laboratory. Working with computers.
During the classes, students become familiar with the basic terminology in the field of cultural information.
They also become acquainted with the activities of cultural institutions of particular types and the specificity of the GLAM sector.
They also gain knowledge of the different sources of information on the culture and the ability to use them in practice.
Students will also have the opportunity to acquire basic skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis as well as information visualization.

After completing the course, the student:
Knowledge:
- knows and understands specialist terminology in the field of book and information science and related disciplines with an emphasis on working with cultural heritage
- knows the principles of information systems in the context of cultural information
- knows and can practically apply basic strategies and methods of information retrieval, verification of its quality and credibility
Skills:
- can independently search, analyze, evaluate sources in terms of their reliability and credibility; is able to select and use information from them for the needs of its own and users and disseminate information using classical media and social media
- can carry out educational, animation and promotional activities related to information activities in the field of culture
- can communicate in an oral or written form to the extent corresponding to the field of study, using the basic theoretical approaches and appropriate terminology and sources of information
Social competence:
- fulfills professional social obligations related to information activities and participation in culture
- is able to carry out the tasks entrusted by working in a team and performing various roles in it, including the role of the leader
Assessment criteria
Continuous assessment based on substantive preparation for classes and activity during classes.
The condition of passing the course is obtaining a sufficient number of attendance, activity and execution of the final project. Submission of the project within the prescribed period.
One unjustified and one excused absence in a semester is allowed. The student has the opportunity to make up for the absence by passing the oral topic discussed in class.
It is not possible to improve positive grades.
