Social impact of cultural institutions 2700-L-API-D5SWIK
During the course, students in teams will carry out a research project aimed at determining the impact of a selected cultural institution.
The following will be discussed:
- cooperation with the institution's stakeholders,
- statistical data as surogate measures of social impact,
- satisfaction and performance studies and social impact,
- social impact - specificity, aspects and areas of influence,
- methods of social impact research.
The following research methods are proposed:
- analysis of existing data and statistical data,
- participant observation (classic and e.g. as a secret client),
- interviews (PAPI, CAPI, CAWI),
- group interviews.
The methods used in the project will be adapted to the specifics and needs of the examined institution.

After completing the course, student:

Knows and understands:
- interdisciplinary theories and terminology of studying the impact of cultural institutions (bibliology and information science, sociology) (K_W01, K_W02, K_W03)
- methods of analysis and interpretation of the social impact of cultural institutions (K_W04)
- rules and forms of operation of cultural institutions and the implementation of information processes by them (K_W06).
SKILLS:
Can:
- apply the theoretical and methodological knowledge to study selected aspects of the social impact of cultural institutions (K_U01)
- analyze the functioning of cultural institutions, especially in terms of
information activities conducted by them (K_U05)
- present the results of research activities carried out and / or design (K_U06)
- work in a team (K_U08).
OTHER COMPETENCES:
Is ready to:
- fulfillment of social obligations related to the social impact of cultural institutions (K_K02)
- carrying out tasks in group work, also as a leader (K_K04)
Assessment criteria
Continuous assessment based on substantive preparation for classes and activity during classes.
The condition for passing the course is obtaining a sufficient number of attendance, activity and carrying out as well as presenting the final project. Delivery of the project within the prescribed period.
One unexcused and one excused absence per semester is allowed. The student has the opportunity to make up for the absence by oral completion of the topic discussed during classes.
It is not possible to correct positive grades.
