Particular emphasis will be placed on institutions dealing with specialist information, especially scientific and European information.
We will discuss such information institutions as:
- libraries, especially scientific libraries,
- archives,
- scientific information centers,
- European information centers.
During the classes, students will also gain knowledge about public information and its sharing systems.

After completing the course, the student:
Knowledge:
- knows and understands specialized terminology in the field of book and information science and related disciplines relevant to the field of study
- knows the history, principles and forms of operation of information institutions of various types
- understands and can explain the methods, forms and determinants of psychological and social communication with recipients / users of information
Skills:
- is able to analyze the functioning of institutions and / or their departments that carry out information activities
- knows how to evaluate the effectiveness of information services
- acquires new knowledge and skills to identify and solve practical and theoretical problems in the field of book and information science
Social competence:
- is ready to fulfill professional social obligations related to information activities
Assessment criteria
Continuous assessment based on substantive preparation for classes and activity during classes.
The condition of passing the course is obtaining a sufficient number of attendance, activity and presentation of the selected institutions. Presentations during classes. The order of presentation will depend on the size of the group and the topic
One unjustified and one excused absence in a semester is allowed. The student has the opportunity to make up for the absence by passing the oral topic discussed in class.
It is not possible to improve positive grades.
