Upon completion of the course the student:
- defines the basic functions of management (planning, organising, leading, controlling) and their importance in an organisation (K_W01)
- discusses the basics of human resource management, the importance of motivation, diversity and team management (K_W02)
- distinguishes between rational and behavioural approaches in decision-making in organisations (K_W02)
- describes key management theories, including classical, behavioural and quantitative approaches, and is able to indicate their application in practice (K_W02)
- explains the importance of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development in contemporary business (K_W05)
- identifies the underlying strategies implemented by selected companies (K_W07)
-identifies the influence of the organisation's environment - both internal and external - on managers' actions (K_U01)
- adjusts different organisational structures to the company's strategy, taking into account new organisational forms, such as virtual or learning organisations (K_U02)
- proposes solutions to interpersonal and intergroup conflicts, using the known methods of conflict management (K_U03)
- works in a team on the analysis of complex case studies reflecting real business situations (K_U06)
- critically evaluates innovation processes in organisations and the importance of intercultural management in international business (K_K01)
- develops own managerial competences (K_K04)
- takes into account in its decision-making the principles of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development in contemporary activities (K_K05).
Assessment criteria
Assessment follows the principles set by the seminar instructors during the first class.
The lecture ends with a multiple-choice exam; grades are assigned according to the standard UW (University of Warsaw) grading system.
• 0-50% – grade 2
• 51-60% – grade 3
• 61-70% – grade 3.5
• 71-80% – grade 4
• 81-90% – grade 4.5
• 91-100% – grade 5
