The course presents the basic concepts of a comprehensive approach to organizational design. During the course the following issues will be discussed:
- concept of structure: genesis of structures, functions of organizational structures,
- forms of presenting organizational structures: organizational chart and organigraph,
- determinants of organizational structures,
- basic structure parameters,
- coordination of work in organization: meaning of coordination mechanisms,
- main structural configurations: simple structure, machine bureaucracy, professional bureaucracy, divisional structure, adhocracy,
- impact of information technology on organization design,
- modern structural configurations,
- comprehensive approach to organization design: elements, design process.
