The introduction will discuss the nature and development of financial controlling in organizations. The main focus of the course will be on the key financial controlling tools (budgeting – objectives and types, cost variance analysis methods, control and result calculations of contribution margins, factor analysis methods of contribution margins, break-even point and financial safety margin, economic indicators, and methods for investment project evaluation). A key aspect of the course is the discussion of investment project evaluation methods (simple and discount methods in project evaluation, project cash flows, discounting, project present value (NPV), and internal rate of return (IRR). Finally, the final important topic will be budgeting in responsibility centers (operating budgets, financial budgets, cost budgeting principles, and master budget creation).

After completing the course, the student:
Knowledge-wise:
• Describes the subject, objectives, and methods of financial controlling in an enterprise (K_W02)
• Assesses the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of using individual financial controlling instruments (K_W03)
• Identifies the causes of deviations from financial plans and proposes solutions to problems (K_W05)
Skills-wise:
• Manages the organization's financial liquidity based on available financial controlling instruments (K_U02)
• Utilizes modern tools for creating a master budget (K_U03)
• Makes decisions based on project-based investment project evaluations (K_U03)
• Prepares analyses, diagnoses, and reports, independently and collaboratively, within financial controlling, regarding complex and unusual problems related to the organization's operations, and presents them communicatively, also in English (K_U06; K_U08; K_U09)
Social skills-wise:
• Assesses the impact of accounting system data on the potential use of financial controlling instruments (K_K01)
• Assesses Usefulness of information from the financial statements for examining the entity's liquidity and financial efficiency (K_K04)
Promotes ethical standards in the use of financial controlling instruments (K_K05)
Assessment criteria
Learning outcomes will be verified on an ongoing basis through tasks performed by participants during seminars. Additionally, participants receive bonuses for their activity during classes, which increase their final grade. The grade for passing the seminar is the result of:
20% work in classes;
80% final test.
Pass with grade - multiple choice test combined with practical tasks in the field of consolidation. A satisfactory grade from 55% of the test points.

Professional practice is not required to complete the subject
