The main goal of the seminar is to prepare students to independently write a master's thesis with a high substantive level. The subject of the classes includes issues in the field of methodology of writing scientific work, in particular identifying the features of scientific style, principles of preparing bibliographies and footnotes, as well as discussing the principles of working with sources and the principles of analyzing views expressed in the literature on the subject and legal regulations, necessary to draw independent conclusions presented later. in the master's thesis. Detailed scope of the seminar;
1. Objectives of the diploma thesis and tasks of the diploma seminar.
2. Methodology of social sciences.
3. Rules for selecting the topic of the diploma thesis.
4. Using literature - forms of scientific studies, stages of getting acquainted with literature, rules for taking notes, bibliographic description.
5. Using catalogs and the Internet.
6. Formal page of the work - quotations, references and footnotes, list of bibliography, list of tables, list of figures, appendices.
7. Collecting empirical materials, methods of their analysis and presentation of results. Tables and charts.
8. Principles of building scientific work;
a. selecting a research problem and formulating research problems – hypotheses/research questions;
b. design and structure of work. The structure of the ending and introduction. Selection and formulation of the work topic; structure of your own research topic.
9. Ongoing verification of the substantive content of the written diploma thesis and its improvement based on the supervisor's comments.

The student's knowledge:
• is able to apply in-depth research methodology and terminology within the disciplines of management and quality science, as well as economics and finance, necessary to write a master's thesis, particularly in the area of accounting and controlling (K_W01).
• applies in-depth principles, procedures, and practices related to financial management in organizations, accounting, and controlling as part of the research conducted in the master's thesis (KW_02, KW_03).
• interprets complex technological, social, political, legal, economic, and ecological processes and phenomena, and their impact on financial decisions in organizations, the functioning of the organization, and the entire economy, including the principles of industrial property protection and copyright, necessary to develop a master's thesis (KW_04, KW_05; KW_06 KW_07).
In terms of skills:
• is able to utilize the theory of management and quality sciences, as well as economics and finance, to identify, diagnose, and solve problems related to financial decisions in organizations and the management of financial institutions, using appropriate sources and adapting existing or developing new methods to develop the content of a master's thesis (K_U01).
• is able to correctly interpret complex technological, social, political, legal, economic, and ecological processes and phenomena, and their impact on financial decisions in organizations, the functioning of organizations, and the economy as a whole, using appropriate sources for the research in a master's thesis (K_U02).
• is able to formulate and test hypotheses related to the presented research problems and propose solutions to tasks set in unpredictable conditions (K_U04, K_U05).
• is able to independently and collaboratively prepare analyses, diagnoses, and reports (including a master's thesis) regarding financial management in organizations, accounting, and controlling, and present them communicatively, also in English, using information and communication tools (K_U06). • Speaks a foreign language at a B2+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and uses specialized terminology in the disciplines of management and quality, particularly management, accounting, and controlling, for the purposes of preparing a master's thesis (K_U07). • Demonstrates the ability to self-educate, improve acquired qualifications, and support others in this area while preparing a master's thesis (K_U09).
within the framework of social competences:
• evaluates and applies a critical approach to complex situations and phenomena, as well as entrepreneurial activities related to financial management in organizations, accounting, and controlling while preparing a master's thesis (K_K01, (K_K04).
• recognizes the importance and value of scientific knowledge in the context of solving complex problems in the field of accounting and controlling in an organization (K_K02).
• adheres to and develops professional ethical standards when preparing and defending a master's thesis (K_K05).
Assessment criteria
Ongoing cooperation with the student during seminars and assessment of progress in writing the diploma thesis.
The form of passing is the approval of the thesis outline and the first chapter of the thesis after the first semester and the approval of the entire thesis after the second semester.
