Upon the completion of the course, the student:
In terms of knowledge:
- specifies the functions of management and managerial roles (K_W01)
- discusses the most important approaches related to scientific management, organisation theory, human relations school and strategic management (K_W01)
- presents popular management techniques (K_W01)
- characterises the marketing mix and STP process for a selected product and/or company (K_W02)
- presents selected business activities using Porter’s value chain model (K_W02)
- explains the significance of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development in contemporary business activities (K_W05)
- identifies generic strategies implemented by selected companies (K_W07)
In terms of skills:
- interprets organisational structure charts (K_U01)
- interprets the leadership style (K_U01)
- proposes activities motivating a selected group of employees (K_U01)
- carries out an analysis of the organisational environment using the PEST technique, Porter’s 5 forces model and stakeholder analysis (K_U02)
- carries out SWOT analysis (K_U02)
- defines objectives compliant with SMART criteria (K_U05)
- uses Ansoff matrix and BCG matrix to make product-related decisions (K_U05)
- debates in a group on the conclusions from analyses conducted by themselves and other students (K_U05)
- works in teams on the analysis of complex case studies, representing real business problems (K_U07)
In terms of social competencies:
- critically analyses organizational problems based on provided case studies (K_K01)
- develops personal managerial competencies (K_K04)

Assessment criteria
The final grade will be based on results of assignments submitted throughout the semester in the course of exercises (50%) and exam test (50%). Specific assignments will include individual and team assignments. Each assignment will need to be handed over based on strictly determined time and format, defined during the class (no deadline extensions will be granted – failure to submit an assignment results in the loss of available points). Students, who fail to collect 50% of points for the assignments, fail the class (grade 2) in the first exam session.
