Learning outcomes
After completion of the course the student:
in terms of knowledge:
● Identifies procedures and practices regarding the activities of a small enterprise, its key functions (operational, marketing, financial, personnel management) and its relationship with the environment (S1_W02).
● Recognizes legal, economic, and technological processes and their impact on the functioning of a small enterprise (S1_W05).
● Identifies the principles of creating and developing various forms of entrepreneurship (S1_W06).
In terms of skills:
● Interprets technological, social, political, legal, economic and ecological processes and phenomena and their impact on functioning of a small enterprise, using the appropriate selection of sources (S1_U02).
● The student is able to plan and organize individual and team work in the process of starting a business, including preparing a business concept, planning organizational and formal activities related to company registration, and effectively cooperating with team members and collaborators in carrying out tasks related to the creation and operation of an enterprise. (S1_U06)
● Discusses the presented case studies as part of a team (S1_U07).
in terms of attitudes:
● Develops a concept for own business activity (S1_K04).
● Promotes adherence to ethical standards and legal regulations in launching an example business activity (S1_K05).
Assessment criteria
The final grade is based on two mandatory elements:
● Control test - in electronic form on the KAMPUS UW platform, in the presence in a designated classroom of the Faculty of Management ("paper" test in the classroom is possible). The test contains closed questions - single and multiple choice. The test covers 75% of the final (total) grade.
● Case study – preparation and presentation of the concept of own business (the result of team work). The case study accounts for 25% of the final (total) grade.
Attendance may be checked during the classes (two absences are allowed – in case of more absences, the instructor may introduce additional requirements for passing the course).
A total of 40 points can be scored for the control test and case study, the number of which will determine the final grade, according to the following scale:
● 0 – 20 unsatisfactory (2)
● 21 – 24 satisfactory (3)
● 25 – 28 satisfactory plus (3.5)
● 29 – 32 good (4)
● 33 – 36 good plus (4.5)
● 37 – 40 very good (5)
For all program formats, the maximum number of points available for the control test is 30.
In the full-time program, ZMP specialization, students may earn up to 10 points for the preparation and presentation of a case study, including a maximum of 2 points for the in-class presentation.
In the full-time program, ZEG specialization, and in the part-time program, ZMP specialization, no presentation is required. In these formats, students are required only to prepare and submit the case study to the instructor for evaluation.
In the part-time program, ZEG specialization, students are not required to prepare case studies. Instead, they may earn up to 10 points for participation in class discussions.
