• forms of money (fiduciary and private)
• supply and demand for money
• payment habits (differences between countries)
• payment instruments (narrow and broad classification)
• types of payment (remote and at point-of-sale)
• benefits and costs of payment instruments
• catalogue of payment services
• payment service providers
• legal acts in Poland and in the EU (Payment Services Act, PSD2/PSD3, etc.)
• EU retail payments strategy
• payment market innovation (e-payments, m-payments, BNPL, open banking services - PIS, instant payments, payment-as-a-service, e-commerce development, API, biometrics, embedded payments, digital wallets)
• network and scale economics (scale and network effects, two- and multi-sided platforms, critical mass problem, three- and four-party card schemes, pricing conventions - business model, competition on the payment market)

• Can apply the theory of the disciplines of economics and finance, as well as complementary disciplines (management and quality sciences, legal sciences), to recognize, diagnose, and solve problems related to the payment system, using the appropriate selection of sources and adapting existing methods. • Can accurately interpret technological, social, political, legal, economic, and ecological processes and phenomena and their impact on the payment system, using the appropriate selection of sources. (K_U02)
• Can independently and collaboratively prepare analyses, diagnoses, and reports related to the payment system and present them effectively, also in English - utilizing information and communication tools. (K_U03)
