During the classes, the student becomes familiar with issues of technical analysis, including the analysis of the stock market cycle, stock index analysis, stock market cycles and their theories: Dow Theory, Elliott Wave Principle, technical indicators, moving averages, market-wide indicators, A/D (Advance/Decline) indicators, Barron's confidence indicators, market sentiment indicators, stock price-based indicators – momentum indicators, Rate of Change (ROC), Relative Strength Index (RSI), Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (MACD), and indicators using stock prices and trading volume, such as On-Balance Volume (OBV), and Upside/Downside volume.
The student analyzes charts, formations (patterns), and trends (i.e., analysis of formations – reversal patterns (V, M and W, saucer, head and shoulders), continuation patterns (triangle, flag); and trend analysis, i.e., trend lines, support and resistance lines, support and resistance channels).
Issues concerning intermarket analysis are also presented.

Upon completion of the course, the student:
Knowledge
• S_W01 – knows and deeply understands the research methodology and terminology related to technical analysis, including theories of stock market cycles, technical indicators, and the analysis of formations and trends.
• S_W05 – knows and understands complex economic and market processes and phenomena, including investor sentiment, market volatility, and intermarket dependencies, and can assess their impact on investment decisions and the functioning of the economy.
• S_W07 – knows the principles of creating and developing various forms of entrepreneurship and investment activity using technical analysis tools at national and global levels.
Skills
• S_U01 – is able to use knowledge of technical analysis to recognize, diagnose, and solve problems related to investment decisions in capital markets.
• S_U02 – is able to correctly interpret technical analysis indicators and patterns (e.g., RSI, MACD, moving averages, trend lines, reversal and continuation patterns) and assess their significance for investment and economic decisions.
• S_U04 – is able to formulate and test research hypotheses regarding the behavior of financial markets based on technical analysis indicators and tools.
• S_U05 – is able to propose investment solutions and strategies based on technical analysis under conditions of uncertainty and market volatility.
• S_U06 – is able to independently and collaboratively prepare analyses and reports based on technical analysis methods, communicate them effectively to various audiences (including in English), and lead a debate using advanced IT and communication tools.

• S_K01 – is able to evaluate and critically assess the application of technical analysis methods in investment practice, considering their limitations and consequences for financial decision-making.
• S_K02 – recognizes the importance and value of scientific knowledge in the context of using technical analysis to solve complex investment problems, and is able to utilize the opinions of experts.
