This course has not yet been described...
Term 2023L:
Lecture: The class aims at providing students with basic skills necessary for the analysis and interpretation of empirical research results. Classes are going to be conducted in the form of practical exercises with the use of a computer. Each of the participants will be able to practice the methods discussed in the lecture using data provided by the lecturer. Participants of the class will acquire the basic skills required to work with a dataset and will be able to perform statistical tests (including descriptive statistics, intergroup comparisons, correlation techniques, analysis of variance). |
Prerequisites (description)
Learning outcomes
In terms of knowledge: The student has basic knowledge of description of variables, appropriate for behavioral research (K_W03)
Relating to skills: The student can analyze the collected data using available statistical techniques. In particular, he is able to perform a correlation analysis, compare two or more group means using appropriate parametric techniques (Student's t, one-way analysis of variance) and non-parametric techniques (Wilcoxon, U-Mann Whitney, Kruskal Wallis Anova).
In terms of competences related to the use of acquired knowledge and skills: The student in his attitude strives to objectify the collected data on animal behavior, prefers quantitative methods over anecdotalism, presents an attitude of readiness to empirically verify hypotheses.
