Term 2023L:
The topics of the course will include the analysis of the latest scientific research on horse behaviour, but also on horse training and education. Starting from discoveries in cognitive processes, emotions, learning mechanisms, through herd dynamics and interspecies communication, to the practical application of these findings in the daily use and training of these animals - such as the impact of the training methods and equipment used. During the class specific scientific articles will be discussed along with the evaluation of group selection, methodology or statistical methods, ending with a joint discussion and questions. The aim of the class is to promote evidence-based knowledge and encourage students to looking for research articles. |
Prerequisites (description)
Learning outcomes
In terms of knowledge: The understanding of the basic ethology of the horse, learning processes in relation to training, proper maintenance and use of horses.
In terms of skills: The ability to search and interpret scientific publications relating to the behaviour and training of horses.
In terms of social competence: Analysis of scientific publications on horse behaviour and training and practical application of the results of these studies in the daily use and training of horses.
